I am conveniently located in Cool Springs/ Brentwood near the intersection of Moores Lane and I-65.
What are your hours of operation?
What is a Free Phone Consultation?
Our phone consultation is a phone call for 10-15 minutes. The goals of our free phone consultation are to help me better understand your needs and goals in therapy and to help you feel more informed about what to expect in our sessions when we partner together.
If we determine that my style of treatment is not a fit for you, I will share any referrals I can to help you locate the right therapist for your needs.
What if I can’t make it to your office for my appointment?
Do you take insurance?
I do not take in insurance at this time, but I can provide you a “superbill” with the necessary billing codes for you to get reimbursed through your insurance coverage.
Be sure to ask your insurance provider if you have available “out-of-network” mental health benefits.
How long does therapy last?
We will discuss together the length of your commitment to therapy. Your needs, goals, and availability will all impact your treatment plan.
Some clients who implement my recommended tips and practices between sessions can maximize every therapy session we have together.
Other clients feel distracted and overwhelmed between sessions and feel the tremendous relief of letting down their problems during our weekly or bimonthly session together.
Do I need to bring anything to therapy?
What is therapy like?
I utilize a whole-body approach. It is important to examine how daily lifestyle choices, chemicals, substances, and the environment contribute to the problem you wish to solve.
In therapy, we also use a cognitive-behavioral approach. This method means we can learn how thoughts contribute to behaviors that are not working for you. We can then find ways to “break up” with negative thoughts and behaviors and focus energy on new behaviors that move you forward.
Therapy is meant to be your “safe space.” It means a consistent, reliable person who is happy to see you and ready to hear what’s on your heart. Do you have some good news… great! Do you feel despair and overwhelm? I’m here for it.
I will not rush you toward a quick fix solution. I believe the key to unlocking your well-being is tapping into your wisdom and experience, adding some outside perspectives from trusted sources, and developing new skills.
How can I accelerate therapy for faster results?
Will there be homework?
I offer therapy homework for clients, and I highly recommend that they put in the extra effort toward being introspective, insightful, and intuitive between sessions.
Homework allows you to practice the skills and concepts we are learning together in therapy.
Do you use spiritual beliefs in your counseling practice?
This is a great question! My spiritual origins stem from a positive, loving Christian perspective. I find beauty and value in many spiritual and scientific modalities.
I also pride myself on openly welcoming my clients to explore their spiritual topics on their own terms. I adapt to where my clients are.
Many clients may feel the need to adapt their views to their religious or non-religious counselor, but I welcome clients with a wide range of spiritual viewpoints, allowing me to remain both neutral and spiritually informed on your behalf.
Do I have to talk about my family stuff?
Our lives tell a story, and the first part of that story is passed. We know Superman was born on the planet Krypton and raised on a farm in Kansas. And Anne Frank’s diary portraying Nazi rule in the 1940s depicts her resilience and strength during difficult times.
The past may include information about cultural traditions, geography, home environment, and family history.
Your story matters. Your roots matter. It can be hard to go into your past and remember. Part of your journey in counseling is to practice courage and face things that make us feel vulnerable. Those feelings are still impacting you today. It is important to learn about yourself and forgive your past to feel worthy of all the good things to come ahead.
